Automatic Generac Generators Puyallup, WA

First off I want to say if you are considering back up power you are in good company.  Many of your neighbors have already installed their systems and have the peace of mind knowing that they are prepared.    Now that you are considering making a purchase let’s take a look at what comes in the box.  Read on and I will demystify Generators and help you as you work through the process of making your decision.

First, please see the above picture to understand what comes in the box:

  • Standby generator (2’ x 4’ box weighing 300-500 lbs that contains the power motor and generator itself)
  • The transfer switch (another large box like the one pictured above from our installation in Puyallup, WA)
  • Set of keys for lockable cover
  • Owner’s Manual
  • Often a CD installation
  • Warranty registration cards (we activate and register the warranty automatically for all our customers when we perform installations)
  • Short flexible gas line
  • Battery not included (although the manufacturer does not include this we provide the proper battery with installation)

To begin with I want to say that the standby generator itself is very elegant precisely built piece of equipment with one goal in mind…..to generate power flawlessly during any power outage with no intervention needed from the customer.  I call it the 12 second rule. Basically the generator fully restores power to the home after only 12 seconds with no effort required from the homeowner.

Depending of which model of Generac Standby generator you purchase there are two common types of transfer switches that will come with your new generator:

  1. Prepackaged load center (10-16 circuit coverage)

  1. SE rated transfer switch (Covers almost all circuits depending on generator size)

Our most popular installation is the prepackage load center for a few reasons:

  • Most cost effective
  • Usually installed with a smaller generator
  • Less labor to install

Not much less popular is the 200 amp SE rated transfer switch pictured above.  Also popular because:

  • Provide power for more circuits
  • Has digital load management
  • Usually installed with a bigger generator
