20 kw Generac install in Federal Way with (4) DLM modules

Propane powered 83.3 amps of pure power! The weekly self test is only 60 dba (very quiet) click here scroll to middle of page for decibel level comparison chart.

The Genpad is leveled and provides a firm foundation for the standby generator. Also notice the trim skirting is a nice touch. This is an option for all Generac generators but comes standard with the 20kw model 5875.

200amp Service Entrance Rated Transfer Switch RTS-D-200A3 with digital load management. We used all available connections to prevent Generator overload and meet the current code. We dropped the hot water tank #1, hot water tank #2, and the oven. These loads are too much for even a 20kw standby generator.

The propane tank was located far from the generator. Poly gas line was buried to make the connection. The trench is still open in this picture waiting for the mechanical inspection before we are allowed to cover it up.

A 500 gallon tank was installed. Propane tanks are filled to only 80% capacity so the available gas is 400 gallons. The generator consumes approx 2 gallons of gas per hour (48 gallons per day) at full load so this tank will keep the generator running for approx 8 days.

Finally we ran LV wire to the furnace to shut off the 30 and 60 amp breakers during an outage. This huge heating load would overload the generator very quickly.
